The First Portuguese Water Dog in Norway
Hi Runi,
The beginning of Portuguese Water Dogs in Norway.
I lived in Norway. I was born and raced out side Stockholm and I got married and moved to Norway in 69.
I had breed Berner and Grosser for some time and was looking for a new breed. Poodle came first to mind. I was raiced with Poodles and had one (16 years old) when I got married. But my husband said nooooooo.
At that time my Father lived in New Canaan CT. At a cocktail party I was introduced to a Dianne Miller and she had dogs. Poodles standard and something she called Portuguese Water Dog and she invited me to see them.
She sell them well throwing toys in a pool and let them retrieve the item booth under and above the water. They were smaller at that time like a Springer spaniel. Mrs. Miller did show my husband and me how obedient they were. So, we were sold.
That spring I was the proud owner of two Português water Dogs’ came to Scandinavia. Amorina De Alvalade (Ami) and Farmion Zebro (Sambo). Ami was black and white born in Portugal her coat was wavy she retrieved as a cocker Spaniel, sweet temperament and became my daughters shadow. They were send to the quarantine in Sala Sweden. After four month my daughter and I drove to pick them up to have them in home quarantine for two months.
They got a litter of 7 puppies, they all was named Foursome’s P. Two of them become CH and so did booth Ami and Sambo and Korken. Korken (Foursome's Primavera) went to Sweden rest stayed in Norway.
Ami only had one litter she lived to be 11 years.
With other breeds I had a lot of puppies Berner, greater swiss, Cavaliers, Pom , King Charles, Maltese all in Norway.
Best Regards
Ingela
